Angel, real name Warren Worthington III, is a mutant who possesses a pair of large feathered wings extending from his back, enabling him to fly. He is the heir and CEO of the multi-billion dollar Worthington Industries. After mutants were exposed to the public, Angel joined the X-Men.

Warren Worthington III was born to Kathryn Worthington and Warren Worthington Jr. In his adolescence, Warren grew white feathered wings that slowly and steadily grown throughout his childhood. At first Warren was terrified of his wings until his fear diminished when he had flown with his wings for the first time.

Inspired by the stories of Superman and his heroics, Warren decided to use his wings for good. As a result, Warren created a costume and became a vigilante which the news media dubbed him as the Angel. Warren's vigilante activities was, however, short-lived as he came to doubt of his own heroism after he almost accidentally killing a little girl - but in reality was actually perpetrated and manipulated by Magneto, who saw a lesser view on Warren's heroism involving saving human lives and wanted to recruit him to the Acolytes. When learning Magneto's agenda, Warren immediately rejected but only to be bounded in chains by the Master of Magnetism. Fortunately, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Superman, and Dazzler arrived and helped Warren in fending off Magneto and the Acolytes. Once properly meeting with the X-Men, Warren decided not to join the Xavier Institute, but considered thinking about it.[1]

A year after his encounter with the X-Men and mutants were made public, Warren would eventually enrolled in the Xavier Institute. His enrollment, however, was factored by the panic response from his parents, which even his father was willing to pay Professor Charles Xavier to enroll his son despite the fact that Warren had been successfully running Worthington Enterprise. Warren only naturally accepted provided that his father allowed him to retain a position as an executive consultant.[2]

Powers and abilitiesEdit

Thanks to his mutant physiology, Warren possesses powerful wings that enabled him to fly at great speed, as well as a physiology that allows him to cope with the reduced temperatures and visibility at high altitude.
