"When you've been standing alone against the criminals here as long as I have, and seen as much as I have, then you get to question my methods. Kid, in ten years – hell, in five – you will be me."

Daredevil, real name Matthew "Matt" Murdock, is a blind vigilante possessing heighten senses who operates in New York City's Hell's Kitchen, and a lawyer under his alter-ego.

Matt Murdock had lost his sight as a child, from a leaky vat of radioactive waste that crimelord Wilson Fisk had been moving illegally through Hell's Kitchen; however, in spite of taking his eyesight, the wastes had super-enhanced all his other senses. His father, a boxer named Jack Murdock, supports him as he grows up, though Jack is later killed by gangsters sent by Fisk after refusing to throw a fight. Driven by his father's death, Matt fought criminals as a lawyer during the day and as the dark red, costumed Daredevil during the night.

Daredevil fought against many enemies, including Bullseye and the Kingpin; in which he grew a grudge against the former for almost losing the life of his estranged love interest, Elektra. He maintained a rather cold and neutral relationship with other superheroes, but looked down on younger heroes such as Spider-Man for being too inexperienced and naive to be participating in vigilantism, and preferred in working alone, given to the years and experiences he had spent as a vigilante.

While tracking down a thug working for the Kingpin, and learning about a arms shipment through Bayville, Daredevil came into his first encounter with Superman (in which Daredevil had already learned about Spider-Man having "a friend in high places") and Dazzler. Although the two heroes offer to help, Daredevil refuse. However, Superman and Dazzler intervened in the arms shipment that was being guarded by Bullseye and Deadpool. Daredevil and the two heroes then find the shipment being already attacked by the Bayville Sirens, and immediately intervene and subduing the mercenaries and the Kingpin's thugs.[1]

Powers and abilitiesEdit

Although blind, the character's remaining four senses function with high levels of superhuman accuracy and sensitivity, giving him abilities far beyond the limits of a sighted person; few know that the hero cannot see. Daredevil developed a radar sense, which is similar to echolocation.

Though he has no superhuman physical attributes beyond an enhanced sense of balance, Daredevil is a master of martial arts.

Daredevil's signature weapon is his specially-designed billy club; it is a multi-purpose weapon and tool that contains thirty feet of aircraft control cable connected to a case-hardened steel grapnel.
