Ellen Dane is the mother of Lorna Dane (later called Polaris), and a former lover of Magneto.
History[]
Ellen Dane had an affair with Erik Lensherr, who is better known as the mutant extremist Magneto, which resulted in the birth of Lorna. After Lorna was born, Ellen, fearing what Magneto might do, took her daughter far away, trying to protect Lorna and keeping the identity of her father.
When mutants were exposed to the public, fearing for her daughter's safety and Magneto's reemergence, Ellen moved with her daughter to Florida.

In Marvel Comics, Polaris' mother was actually named Susanna Dane.
