The Fantastic Four is a superhero team of four individuals who gained superpowers after exposure to a quantum teleporter. The team consists of Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Benjamin Grimm.

Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm were working on a quantum teleporter designed by Reed. On the moment the teleporter was being tested, Reed's colleague Victor van Damme had entered the wrong codes to the teleporter, in which it gave the foursome inhuman abilities. Reed's body can stretch into incredible lengths and shapes; Susan gain the abilities to turn herself invisible and project powerful force-fields; Johnny can generate flames from his body; and Ben possesses a rock-like flesh and gaining superhuman strengths. The four stayed together as a team referred by the public as the Fantastic Four.

The Four went on numerous adventures and occasionally clashing with Victor van Damme, who was also altered by the quantum teleporter and became the ruler of Latveria known as Doctor Doom. The team were seen as a threat by some in the United States government, but managed to proven enough people to see the Four as actual heroes.

The Four first encountered Superman on the International Space Station while repairing the station's damages caused by a micro-meteor shower. In return, the team aided the Man of Steel and the X-Men in rescuing Nightcrawler and Forge from the Middleverse.

Background information

The Fantastic Four were the first superhero team created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The four members gained superpowers after exposure to cosmic rays during a scientific mission to outer space. The team is also well known for its recurring encounters with characters such as the villainous monarch Doctor Doom, the planet-devouring Galactus, the sea-dwelling prince Namor, the spacefaring Silver Surfer, and the shape-changing alien Skrulls.

The origins of the Last Son versions of the Four are based on their Ultimate Marvel version, in which the four teleported through a parallel universe due to Victor van Damme's tampering that reprogrammed the teleporter's coordinates.
