Baron Karl Mordo was a rogue sorcerer and an enemy of Doctor Strange.
History
Baron Karl Mordo was the student of the Tibetan mystic known as the Ancient One. He plotted to betray his teacher, but his plot was discovered by the Ancient One's visitor, Stephen Strange. Mordo was subsequently exiled, but allowing him to independently pursued power for his own sake, and eventually becoming a sworn enemy of Strange.
Mordo later came into contact with Mesmero and established an alliance with the followers of Apocalypse in exchange for a portion of the mutant's power. He aided Mesmero in manipulating some members of the X-Men into stealing the components to the key in unlocking the first seal to Apocalypse's tomb. He and Mesmero were eventually discovered by Superman and Doctor Strange, but following a battle Mordo was able to escape.
