Giant Man, real name Hank Pym, is a member of the Avengers. He has the ability to grow to well over sixty feet tall, or shrink to less than the size of an ant.
History
Giant Man met Superman while the Avengers were on a mission in Latveria. Despite being saved by the young superhero after their aircraft was shot down, Giant Man was skeptical to have Superman's help on the mission as he believed he is too young and inexperienced. Despite Giant Man's objection, the Avengers accepted the Man of Steel's aid. Although Giant Man maintained his doubts towards Superman, he was eventually flabbergasted to witness his powers.
After mutants were exposed to the public, Giant Man and the Avengers aided the X-Men alongside with other heroes in battling the Friends of Humanity.
Powers and abilities
Hank Pym is a scientific genius with a Ph.D in Biochemistry and nanotechnology, along with expertise in the fields of quantum physics, robotics/cybernetics, artificial intelligence, and entomology.
After constant experimentation with size-changing via ingested capsules and particle-filled gas, Pym is eventually able to change size at will. Pym retains his normal strength when in "ant" size, and possesses greatly increased strength and stamina when in "giant" form, courtesy of the increased mass. Pym's costume is synthetic stretch fabric composed of unstable molecules and automatically adapts to his shifting sizes.

In Marvel Comics, Hank Pym has gone through several superhero aliases, including Ant Man, Goliath, Giant Man, Yellowjacket and (briefly after his wife's death) Wasp, most of the time with variations of his size-shifting powers.
