History[]

Wilson Fisk is the most influential figure in New York and rose to becoming a prominent crime lord in the criminal underworld that operated on a global scale. Given his regarded public status, the Kingpin is exempted from crimes that are connected to him without any plausible evidence. Despite his immunity from justice, the Kingpin's operations are constantly foiled by costumed heroes, such as the likes of Spider-Man and Daredevil. In response to these heroes, Fisk occasionally hired and manipulated super-powered crooks and middlemen, such as Doctor Octopus, Bullseye, and Shocker, to do his bidding and as a deterrent.

Fisk later earned another very much powerful enemy, the Superman. At his first meeting with the Man of Steel, the Kingpin tried to bribe or hire the new hero but fell on deaf ears. Angered, Fisk bide his time to find any vital information on Superman that could turn against him, and as well putting a bounty on the Man of Steel.[1]

Shortly after his confrontation with Superman, Fisk developed an alliance with Doctor Doom in finding any important information on the hero.[1] In his pursuit, Fisk orchestrated in capturing Spider-Man, who is allied with Superman, and hired Shocker, Doctor Octopus, and Hammerhead in participating in interrogating the Web-Crawler. Fortunately, Superman along with Siryn was quick to find Spider-Man thanks to Fisk's business rival Lex Luthor and defeated Fisk's enforcers; however, Fisk had expected Superman's arrival and carefully placed a high-powered explosive nearby that could destroy an entire city block, forcing the heroes to search and defuse the bomb, while Fisk and his enforcers escaped.[2]

Fisk's criminal empire was further threatened by the emergence of the Justice League. Realizing an independent superhero team without government control would jeopardize his operations, Fisk rethink in recruiting more super-powered individuals and even considered in establishing alliances with some of his business rivals to counter the League.[3]
