Elder Lazarus was a member of the Nocturnae Council and the keeper of the vampire race's most ancient texts, and its long-forgotten history.
History[]
Lazarus is an ancient living vampire and was the original member of the Nocturnae Council. It is also rumored that he had once met the very first vampire, the Progenitor, but no one had dared to refute his accounts. Although Lazarus knew the more modern dialect of the vampire language, he spoke only in the ancient tongue, which often prompted the Head Elder Dmitri to translate when needed.
During a council meeting with the Elder Heads, Lazarus was outraged about the theft of vampire artifacts that were stolen by the Black Cat and the incident involved with Blade and affiliates of Deacon Frost. Lazarus was even more angered to learn that Superman and the Justice League were also involved.
During another meeting, the Council were about to elect on including the Justice League and the Xavier Institute under the Blood Oath, Superman appeared before them. Lazarus was silenced from his outrage when Superman spoke to him in his own ancient dialect, surprising the old vampire, thus confirming that the League had tapped into the Council's entire information and ensured in observing them from making any crimes. Lazarus and the other Elders proceed immediately to flee and reconvene at the Los Angeles safe-house.
